Any one know what happened in the recent LA principal audition. I haven't heard anything about it. I believed they had it a few weeks ago unless I'm mistaken.

I saw on myauditions. com that Ilya Shterenberg (San Antonio Symphony) and Boris Allakhverdyan (Met. Opera) are both doing rounds with the orchestra. Anyone else knows WHO were any of the other finalists?

I wonder how Burt fits into all this. I sure hope he sticks around. It's been a real pleasure the last couple years getting to hear both he and Michelle play principal, often on the same concert!

Emailed Michele Zukovsky last night. They haven't picked a player yet. Her last concert is December 20th. She remarried about 5 months ago so she's going to have a wonderful happy retirement.

She said she hopes to play first, whatever that means, a speech maybe? Not sure. I'll be there. She's pretty amazing.

I'll be there too. I took a lesson with Michele Zukovsky a couple of months ago, but I have yet to hear her play in person, so I'm looking forward to it.

Talked to Michele yesterday. Burt Hara didn't take the audition. Maybe he likes where he's sitting.

I know you did David, couldn't figure out why. I thought from his experience and college background that he'd be first pick and the orchestra was kind of priming him to be first chair, since he won the position perhaps less than or about 2 years ago.
I didn't mean to step on your feet David. I was just surprised that such a player with an amazing past didn't take the audition. I kind of thought that he would pop into the first position and then an assistant first position would open up. He surely has plenty of experience as principal from other orchestras including LA.
