I'm ready to cry.. I worked soo hard on my All State solo ( Mozart Clarinet Concerto ) and I don't know.. Parts of my audition was amazing.. other was well lost. When did I get like this ? When did i become such a perfectionist ... ? I don't know.. :(

Don't feel bad. I know from experience that some judges are just tightheads (no offence to any of you judges out there) What I mean to say is that some judges will make sure they find faults in a performance. I've seen judges that have only given as high as a 70 profieciency rating. My judge this year at state solo and ensemble I think made some stuff up to mark me down to a 94. The Motzart concerto is a piece that every judge will know and probably will mark you down for the most minute of problems. They are comparing you to the likes of Stanley Drucker, Paul Myer and the like. I know how you feel as I always put hugh standards on myself. Just look towards the future and enjoy the music.

many judges aren't professionals.

many are college freshman or adult amateurs

yeah, they say that they're teachers and stuff, but they're really not.

in fact, sometimes, they even use nonmusicians as judges

What state do you live in, Freedent, where they use college freshman to judge all-state auditions? I know in my state they use the university teachers. And they don't use non-musicians as judges, that's just a stupid thing to say.

Don't cry! It's not that big of a deal...okay so maybe it is. I'm sorry your audition didn't go as well as planned, but good luck anyway, and I hope you make all-state! I think it's a really good experience.
