Could anyone recommend someone that does a good job of re-padding in NC?
Would also not like to spend an arm & a leg!
Thanks!

I've used Rod Barry at Muncy Winds a few times, but not recently so I can't confirm he is still there. However, Muncy appears to want customers who are likely to demand a good tech.

Just so you feel better about going to Muncy. There are not that many really competent full service clarinet techs in the country, let alone North Carolina. You could easily spend $900 on a decent overhaul and I'd be pretty suspicious of anything less than $500.
Bottom line is you have to either know someone who's had an overhaul and like what you see or just bite the bullet and see for yourself. Once you find someone that you really trust (and like the work), you want to keep going to that shop.

Melody Choplin at UNCG has done pretty good work with my instruments. In addition to being a technician, she's an oboist as well, and you can tell that she tackles repairs with the same meticulousness that we oboists take with our reeds.
