Some time back, I posted a link to an interesting Youtube video by Dr. Ron Odrich: Robert Marcellus and his Clarinets, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N59CYFK9NN0&t=3s. Dr. Odrich inherited the clarinets and mouthpieces from Marcellus. In the video, he mentions that he sometimes plays on Marcellus' Kaspar mouthpiece(s) using Legere reeds.
I bought a Frank Kaspar (Cicero) 14 mouthpiece back in 1967, played it through high school and my first year of college, and then left it sitting in a closet for most of the time since. Since I play on Legere reeds, Odrich's video made me curious about how the mouthpiece would play with the French cut reeds that I use. Recently, I had the mouthpiece restored by Ramon Wodkowski. He found it to be significantly warped, and refaced it to the original curve that Kaspar used, but reducing the tip opening slightly. He also did some internal work. I am very pleased to discover that the mouthpiece plays great with the Legere FC 3.0 reeds that I use. I prefer it to the various modern mouthpieces that I have.
