Hello,
I'm a junior in high school and am currently playing on a B40 13 mouthpiece. I ordered the austrian model vandoren mouthpeice off wwbw and was wondering how it compares to the B40 and B45 mouthpieces in terms of tone and sound quality, resistence, and anything else. This isn't too descriptive, but overall, is this a better mouthpiece?

Of course it isn't a "better" mouthpiece than the B40. If it were "better", Vandoren wouldn't bother to make the B40.
What matters is, does it work better for you? Are you happy using the type of reeds it requires? Does it play in tune on your clarinet? Does it even fit your clarinet; I don't know about Austrian mouthpieces, but German ones aren't all the same size.

If there are so many people on this board unwilling or unable to have a civil and balanced discussion about important issues, then I shan't bother to post here any more.
To the great relief of many of you, no doubt.

These are the mouthpieces that are designed to take the Black Master "Austrian" cut reeds. I ordered the "German" mouthpiece for my Oehler System horns - didn't even come close to fitting. The tenon seemed designed more like a regular French mouthpiece (much too narrow). So I am not sure exactly to whom these mouthpieces are being marketed. May be a safe bet to stay away from these.

A colleague uses a VD Austrian mpc on his Bb and A. #5 reeds and a BIG sound. He thinks its cool, but he also likes garish noises emitting from his sax!

Vandoren makes two types of german-austrian mouthpieces tenon W or wide and S or short for older german clarinets and Böhm clarinets. You needed the W tenon.
