I'm now going in to last year finishing music high school in Slovenia and for next year I have to play a concerto, a sonata, a sloveninan composer and a technical piece. For concerto I already have either Spohr 1st or Mozart and for Sonata either Martinu Sonatina or Poulenc Sonata. I wonder if any of you know any good techincal pieces in the style of something like Widor - Introduction et Rondo or Bassi - Rigoletto Fantasia? Modern pieces are welcome as well!
Thank you in advance

Clarinet4hire- thank you for your suggestions! Messagers Solo de Concours is a beautiful and quite a techincal piece for sure but it is a bit out of question since a classmate will be playing it and in our school they try to avoid to repeat each other I would also like to thank you for the notice on Sancan Sonatine. I had never heard of it before but it sounds incredible and will definetly consider it!

If you want a more modern option I've always loved "Time Pieces" by Muczynski. Make sure to checkout the Mitchell Lurie recording.

For clarinet solo:
Tirincanti, Clarinettologia
Donatoni, Clair
Martino, A Set for Clarinet
For pieces like Widor's, see the list of Paris Conservatory test pieces John Moses posted to this Board here:

Anything from 1897 on should be appropriate. Most of the pieces listed from 1897 - 1923 are available for free pdf download on IMSLP. Look them up by composer here:

There are many paraphrases on Italian operas similar to the Bassi Rigoletto. Besides Bassi, who wrote several, look for works by Cavallini, Liverani, and Lovreglio. I particularly like Carlo Della Giacoma's Tosca Fantasia. There is a recording on Spotify of pieces by Cavallini performed by Sergio Bosi. If you don't already have a subscription to Spotify you are eligible for a free one if you have a page on Facebook. You can also find recordings of many of these on YouTube and some free pdf copies on IMSLP.
I have barely scratched the surface.
Best regards,
jnk
Edited to correct spelling of Tirincanti and Clarinettologia

nbclarinet- thanks on the Time Pieces suggestion. Have to say I really like them they are quite incredible! This is a piece I'm going to think about for sure!
jnk- the Trincanti is amazing! I love the jazzy feel and it is an amazing solo piece I have to say... also thank you for the Solo de Concours link... found quite a few pieces I enjoeyd. And I did listen to the Spotify and have to say they are quite nice as well :D all though the Clarinetologia is just brilliant!

Glad you were able to find it given that I misspelled both the composer and the title. Since you like that piece, you might want to take a look at Ante Grgin's Capriccios for solo clarinet. No. 1 is somewhat similar in tyle to the Trinicanti but is a bit easier. No. 2 is for bass clarinet and No. 3 uses some extended techniques (flutter tonguing and multiphonics). There are performances of all three on YouTube (along with a number of other interesting works by this composer) and the music should be available.
Best regards,
jnk

Slovenian Composer - I suggest that you contact DuĊĦan Sodja. He is a Clarinetist that I do digital management for (Slovenian RTV/Symphony) that several Slovenian Composers have written works for him.
He performed in the Los Angeles ICA Festival, and is on iTunes.
Duo ClariPiano is his 20 yr Clarinet / Piano group.
