I had a visit from muppie on the weekend, as he wanted to have a toot on my 1962 Buffet R13. He brought along his Ridenour Lyrique Libertas (I think I have that right) and his Buffet E12. My observations:
1. My R13 was playing up like a 2nd hand lawn mower - it had a very annoying sticky pad. muppie fixed this with a bit of special cleaning cloth he'd brought along. Very impressive! However, I think muppie's experience with the R13 was somewhat lessened by this. I'll leave it to muppie to report on the R13 if he chooses to do so.
2. The E12 was nice and the keys were extremely responsive and tight but I prefer the sound and feel of my R13. I guess I'm just used to it.
3. I really REALLY liked the Lyrique Libertas. I appreciated the lighter weight of it and just loved its "free blowing" feel. It was so easy to play and produced a gorgeous tone. I was extremely impressed! Well done Mr Ridenour - you have produced a winner in my opinion.
4. muppie is a really pleasant fellow and a very enthusiastic and thoughtful clarinettist. I couldn't believe he's only been playing since December 2013! His tone is outrageously good.
I hope to see muppie again in a few months to see how his playing has progressed and see which clarinet setup he settles on. The internet is certainly a marvellous tool for bringing like-minded souls together!

Thank you so much for posting your impression of his clarinets. I believe it will help other people as well as it's helped me.
I'd love to listen to muppie's thoughts on the r13 as well...

Hi Paul, it was good to hang out and play the clarinet with you. I love doing duets but I obviously need to practice my fingerings and sight reading to do this impromptu duet smoothly.
I am still feeling a bit unsure about which clarinet is "better". I'll reserve my judgment on this and perhaps we can meet up again so I can have a bit more time with your clarinet.
When you played using the Ridenour, it sounded very nice. I still prefer the key work on my Buffet though. If only I can have the Buffet keywork on the Ridenour, I will probably be very happy with it.
