Oboist Jeffrey Reinhardt makes after-market clarinet barrels in many woods, including the less-often-seen Bocote, Gaboon Ebony, and Mopani.
http://www.jreinhardtwoodwinds.com.
Though offering the usual alternatives of single taper or reverse taper to those who want them, Reinhardt prefers his own "double taper" design that he believes will improve tone color and response (here comes the possibly controversial part) "without adding the extra resistance" of a "choke point."
Has anyone tried the Reinhardt barrels yet? Do they deepen and color the tone without any added resistance or choke point?

I would be interested in checking them out. He is a smart guy and good musician. I remember first hearing him play oboe as a HS student and he was quite a good player back then.

Jeff is a friend of mine- great musician and a very cool dude. I have not been able to try his equipment- just too swamped at the moment. I encourage everyone, however, to get in contact with him and let us know what you think of his work.
