For my specialist history project as part of my degree, I am researching the history of double clarinet concertos, particularly the Krommer, Stamitz and Hoffmeister. If anyone can recommend any web pages or books that cover this topic, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Jude

Jude -
In approximate order of usefulness:
(1) Ask your music reference librarian. He/she will send you first to Grove and the clarinet books -- Brymer, Rendall, Baines and so on, and then help you use specialized sources, such as the University Microfilms Online Dissertation Service http://www.umi.com/hp/Products/Dissertations.html . As you may know, UMI charges astronomical prices for copies, but your library can arrange an interlibrary loan.
(2) Go to the ICS website and look in their archives.
(3) Get in touch with the editor of each modern edition you have.
(4) Search the sites at Lingua Franca http://www.linguafranca.com/ and Chronicle of Higher Education, http://chronicle.com/ . I don't know what they have, if anything, and it's really your job to find out.
(5) Read CD inserts. At least for the Consortium Classicum recordings, they give sources.
(6) After you have done this, go on the Klarinet board, where there are many researchers and professors who will be happy to point you in the right direction. Please do not do so without at least giving it a try yourself, as you'll be roughly treated if you simply ask for someone else to do your research for you.
Best regards.
