Some well-known clarinetists, such as Eli Eban and Jonathan Cohler, endorse GAO barrels and bells.
GAO also makes clarinets in at least 5 models: G3, G5 (Viennese bore), G6, G7, and G-soloist:

These are apparently made in small quantities in the US and distributed through a limited number of dealers world-wide, including Ishimori in Japan and Karlsson in the US.
Does anyone on this list play a GAO? Has anyone tried them?

Never played one, but I've got one of the bells on my shelf- it belongs to a friend who used it for about 6 months before giving it to me to try out. The bell is interesting- it darkens the sound without killing any clarity or brightness, a clear sound with depth but perhaps lacking a little body and "concentration" in the sound (reminds me of the YCL 82 custom model clarinet) for my taste. [please note, i use the term "darken" to refer to the range of harmonics/resonance i perceive, NOT to refer to making a fat tubby sound with no ring, which is what many people see to mean when they say darken]
It weighs a ton, so I've never used it and should return it to my friend.

Is the bell a regular GAO or the "Cohler" inscribed model?
Grenadilla or Cocobolo wood?

Gao, Cohler, Genius
Grenadilla, not a bad bell except for the weight (much heavier than my Stock which i use, or my Backun which also sits on the shelf)
