HOW OLD IS MY NOBLET CLARINET
Author: Paul Krueger
Date:   2001-04-05 22:33

Hello

Actually, I work with a guy who wanted me to find out how old his clarinet is, I said I would help. He has a Noblet wood clarinet (Paris). I also have the serial number. Please direct me to a web site or other resource to obtain this information. Thank You - Paul

As far as I know, there is no published list for Noblet. Your best get is to go to the "How Old" section on this site and get the contact information for Leblanc (the makers of Noblet) in Kenosha, WI and call them and ask. They may or may not be able to help you. If they can't, it is very unlikely that anyone can.

Hi....
at this time LaBlanc only goes back to the 70's ( that is the information I got from the 1 800 number there) was just checking on my vito, which I got in 70 and it was well used then ( well used, and well cared for ) think the best would be try the manufacure..

The manufacturer *is* Leblanc. It is unlikely that you will any better success with the offices in France either. Very few companies bothered to keep serial number records until relatively recently in history.

Leblancs are the hardest clarinets to track as far as age goes. I've never been able to get a reply from them on older Paris models. What kind of Noblet is it? Sometimes you can tell by that. What does the logo on the top joint look like?
What kind of a case is it in?

Sometimes these things help to "guess" about the age of a Noblet.

Many of us have several LeBlancs, Noblets, Normandys and/or Vitos with some knowledge of age, so please post your serial number and see what we may know [or make a good guess at] !! Don

I bought a new Noblet Model 45 "Artist" in Nancy, France, in 1964 (at the little music shop on Place Stanislaus). The serial number is 54123. Yes, I still have it, its a good instrument. It would have been a 1963 or 1964 manufacture, according to Leblanc's representative.
