In recent few days, when I play the clarinet, the medial side of my Rt thumb pulp starts to feel numb. The numbness would persist for the whole day and get better after a night's sleep. However the next day after I play the clarinet again, the numbness returns for the whole day again...
Is there anybody with similar experience? Any advice or suggestion for the problem of my Rt thumb? Many thanks!

various suggestions have previously been made on this board. search on 'thumb pain' or similar. some suggestions are Ridenour thumb saddle, Kooiman thumb rest, various neck straps, resiting the thumbrest....

And checking in with your family doctor to try to find or rule out any issues involving the nerves going into the area.
It's very possible that using a thumbrest of some advanced design or a neck strap will ease stress on your thumb and clear the problem up, but it could also be that some nerve impingement as far up as your right elbow may be involved.

You must get a neck strap. What you're describing is (at this stage minor) nerve damage from the pressure of the thumb rest. So even if it takes a trip to the clarinet repair shop to install a strap ring, the safest and best way to end the problem is to play with a neck strap.
Persistence in doing what you're doing now could lease to permanent nerve damage.

An adjustable device to remove nearly all the clarinet weight from the thumb may be more effective.

Because of thumb pain and thumb distortion at the first joint (probably due to clarinet playing according to my hand doctor), I went to a neck strap and that simply shifted pain from my thumb to my neck. Ultimately, I went to a Kooiman (the "less than $50" one) and all pain everywhere has disappeared. I absolutely love it.

A couple of people have reported that those Kooiman thumb rests can come unfastened from the clarinet. I don't know whether it's true or not. Good idea to find more info on it.
