Hi - I'm not sure if you all can answer this question but I thought I'd give it a try...I'll be a senior in highschool next year and have a pretty good chance at making the Texas All-State band (for the first time), and I was thinking about how good that would look on my college applications.....but area competions for allstate are always after the first of January when most applications are due....would there be any way to let my colleges know if I made it??? Just wondering.....thanks for your replies.

Depending on what college you apply to, (conservatory vs. traditional public for example) will determine how impressed the college is with being in all state band. To be quite honest, I've discovered that the only ones who really care that you made it are the people in the music department. The general college just accepts awards like that as proof that you're willing to work hard, whick certainly has its own advantages. I wouldn't worry about notifying the college, the music department or conservatory is who will really appreciate all state.
