Some wise words from one of the most accomplished artist today.
One of my favorite excerpt about being an interpreter:
"we play something that already someone else has created. We aren’t creating, we are re-creating. I don’t know how to express it in words, but the great piece of music in the score is there before me and will be there after me. That is the actual creation."

Wow, he's got some ideas. ..... Nothing. “After the concert is over, I ask you kindly to go without applauding, taking nothing but the sounds with you.”
This is in stark contrast to pop concerts today where people applaud in the middle of something that is verging on subtle. They can't help themselves. They can't wait to destroy the mood that is being created.
