Hi bboard, I was wondering if German reeds (rico reserve classic german) will be playable on French style mouthpieces. Is it a matter of sound or being able to fit properly on the mouthpiece? Thank you for any replies.

If they fit well and seal on both side rails, then you shouldn't have any problem with them.

Have you tried the regular Reserve Classics on your mouthpiece? It might be a better fit.

Yes those are what I use, and I like them very much. I was just wondering what the difference would be. Thanks.

Vandoren Black Masters are slightly narrower than their French models and work fine for me. I can jog them from side to side in tiny amounts to find the point of maximum resonance. (Kal Opperman taught me to do this.) In fact, I narrow all my reeds slightly, just for that purpose.
Vandoren White Masters are too narrow for my mouthpiece, and the vamp shape doesn't work for me.
