Hi everybody. I have recently purchased a Buffet (on it's way in the post). I have purchased it with the assumption that it is a Prestige.
It has the metal rings on the tenon joints etc. But my concern is that the serial number 24**** places it around 1983??
Does anybody know when they began to be made and any other obvious distinctive marks that separates it from the R13.
Also, Buffet no longer let you check the serial numbers...why and is their an alternative?
Thanks in anticipation of your help.

It's normally a silver plated oval badge set into the top joint - if it's missing (as they can all too often fall out), there'll be an oval recess left in the joint where they once were.
Later ones have a cast badge with a sprue on the back that fits into a hole milled into the top joint, so there's a lower chance of them dropping out.
