 Buffet International

I am wondering if any of you out there are familiar with a model of Buffet called the International. It has been listed on Craigslist as approximately 6 years old, purchased for 3500.00. I have looked at it, haven't played it yet, and it appears to be an entry level wood clarinet although it does have silver plated keys. The insignia on the clarinet says Buffet Crampon Paris and there is a sticky tag in the interior of the case that says made in Germany. The case is a very small, canvas zipper case.

Any information you could provide as to the history of this horn would be helpful!

Thanks!

LuAnn

The Buffet sales rep we had, a personal friend of mine, told me that it was an E-11 with a different label. I have checked the bore using a tapered bore gauge, and it appears to the be same as the E-11. They did not retail for $3500 or even $2500.

If you are looking for a professional level clarinet I'd pass on this.

It's a re-badged E11, as advised. It's value is the same as an E11 of the same age. It's an intermediate-level instrument and it sure didn't cost $3500.

Scam........

It's about $1500 if that, probably more like $1200.

I literally just came from my tech and read this thread. There was a pro player who was picking up his daughter's clarinet and it was a Buffet International. I asked him about it (having never seen one) and he said exactly what others above have described, i.e. that it's an E11 made in Germany. He described it as a good intermediate model, as most do, at a reasonable price.

As the saying goes 'buyer beware'.
