Is anyone aware of an adaptation of the Carmen Intermezzo that could be played as a flute & clarinet duet, perhaps with piano accompaniment? I found a solo clarinet arrangement with piano accompaniment, but without the interplay between flute and clarinet it was boring. The first couple lines of the orchestral part almost work as a stand alone duet, but once the bassoon and strings are supposed to come it doesn't work any more.

I don't know if it is still available, but there is an arrangement by Albert Andraud, "Three Pieces by Bizet", that includes the Intermezzo. In typical Andraud fashion, the arrangement could be done with a variety of instrumental combinations. This includes solo flute and piano; 2 flutes and piano; or "Flute, Clarinet (or Oboe) and Piano with optional French Horn, English Horn or Bassoon parts".

Clarinetist and pedagogue Michael Webster wrote a Fantasy for flute-clarinet-trio, which has been recorder by him and his wife, legendary flutist Leone Buyse. It is published by Universal. You can try with the whole Carmen Fantasy or make some cut; I know the music, it perfectly would work.

Well both arrangements are difficult to find. I thought I had found the Andraud arrangement only to learn the distributor was out of stock. Would either of these be the same thing? The sheetmusicplus website product description is vague, but sounds like it may just be flute. I've never dealt with the other company.

Is this the same thing as the Webster version?

The arrangements you found at Sheet Music Plus and Hickey's seem to be the Andraud arrangement I was referring to, although Hickey's references the optional additional parts, but Sheet Music Plus does not. I suggest you contact Hickey's and make sure the optional parts are included. If so, that would serve your purposes.

The other two pieces are from Bizet's "L'arlessiene" music: the Intermezzo from the 2nd suite and the Waltz-Minuet from the 1st suite.
