Recently I've been finding a economical German bore bass clarinet as my fututre horn, the German bore was the sound which inspired me to play the bass clarinet. However, most of the German basses are unaffordable for our family. Thus I have 2 models considered:
1. Uebel 740. About 6500USD.
2. A hypothetical custom low budget version of Otmar Hammerschmidt 840, but only to low D (as this is the range I desire). Estimation around 9500USD.
As I am aware that a number of fellas here who own the Uebel 740. I'd like to ask how is the 740's tone and reliability?
I'm planning to buy the German bass the end this year, as Dad said he would like me to use my plastic horn a bit longer. Hope you guys would give me some advice and suggestions concerning this issue on German horns. Thanks!
Josh
