Hi!
I want to buy fatboy or moba barrel for my Series 9 Bb clarinet, but i don`t know what bore it has. My standart barrel is 66mm, it tunes good in 442.
Backun website tells that 66mm barrels fits Leblanc, Buffet and Yamaha clarinets and 66.5 barrels fits modern selmer paris, Yamaha G series nd german instruments. So, what about Selmer Series 9. What barrel I need? Are there any differences betwen 66mm and 66.5 barrels of same model?

I'm not sure that a Backun barrel would even be a good choice for a Selmer series 9. They are really designed to work with clarinets that have a smaller (~14.6mm) bore and may not work to well with a series 9 that has a larger (~14.9mm) bore.

My experience with Backun barrels is that they are highly variable in any case. Since they aren't designed for the Series 9 or anything else that old, your best bet will simply be to have Backun Musical Services send several on approval - the people there are helpful and very easy to work with - and see for yourself if any of the barrels you get are a good match and what length tunes best. If you have some reason for specifically wanting a fatboy, you can order several of those. Otherwise, you may want to get more than one model to try. The last time I tried Backun barrels, I think they sent me 12 of various models and woods. If you order 66mm barrels, you will be able to see if that length tunes well or not. If it's too sharp, you can return them and order 66.5mm instead.

I got mine directly from Backun Musical Services in Canada. I don't know how (or if) they would handle shipments to Ukraine, but you can contact them by email and ask. Go to their website (http://backunmusical.com/) to find their email address and ask directly if they can help you with this.

Is it not possible for the Backun guys to ream a barrel out to the right bore? Should be a straightforward proposition.
