I just recently purchased a Leblanc L70 that Thomas overhauled in 1999. I was going to send it to him to re-plate and overhaul since he had worked on it before. I checked his web site and it states that he will be closed after the current shop repairs are complete. Is he getting out of the business? I wanted to send it to him since he had worked on it before. The wood is in good shape but the keys need to be replated and the mechanism adjusted. Does anyone have any information?

Any information I have is limited. Ohme is in the Milwaukee area. He can be difficult to get in touch with. As I recall, he didn't answer his phone during most work hours, to allow him to concentrate on his work. he was. however, quick to answer email inquiries.
Melk Music is in the Milwaukee area. If you are unable to get in touch with Thomas, you might give them a call. Thomas is well known & thought of in the area. Sounds like he is quitting, though. You might consider (our own) John Butler of Texas or Steve Fowler of Maryland. John plays clarinet & has done work for many of us. Steve Fowler does his own plating, whether it be nickel or silver. and does top notch work. Both should be able to satisfy you.
Good luck.

PS - OTT, Thomas Ohme did provide a warranty with his overhauls, I can't remember how long it was. Also, IMMSMR, he jobbed out his plating work. We have several Sneezy members that have used Thomas Ohme's service in the past. I believe he used Anderson Plating in Indiana.
