I came across a long and very good interview with Benny Goodman by Dick Sudhalter http://jazzprofiles.blogspot.com/2008/08/benny.html. Sudhalter was a great expert who knew just what to ask the prickly BG.

so BG says ...... Fifty years from now, I don't think people are going to be thinking about Blondie or the Rolling Stones or the Clash. ....paraphrased. I agree with him about the lower caliber of music but I fear it's possible he may be wrong.
