Hi there, my name is Evan de la Torre and I am a freshman at Stanford University. I was Rosario's student for a little under a year but was wondering if anyone out there could help me out with a research paper. I am writing a sort of Renaissance Portrait Paper about Rosario because I feel that he was the epitome of a Renaissance man! I was thinking about talking about Rosario in several different areas. Some of which include a:
clarinet player
clarinet teacher
photographer
ornithologist
world traveler
family man
If you have any information on ANYof these topic I would be tremendously thankful for the help. Please feel free to email me with anything that you might have at evandlt@stanford.edu. Thanks a lot for the time...

Evan - Your having been his student, I presume you are quite familiar with his clar fingering system inventions, both Bundy [Bb alternates] and Selmer [many differences] models. We have discussed these several times here, so "Search the Phorum" for this info. Also, if you don't know of it, Brymer in "Clarinet" discusses the changes in detail. Lawson makes mention [in a pg 214 note to Chap 3 # 5] of "Selmer Bandwagon" 40 [1979] pg 29 advice on playing a solo in Brahms 1st Symp on Bb rather than A in "Congenial Cl Family". The Mazzeo System US patents are 2,867,146 [basic, "parent"] , 3,035,473, 3,150,553, 3,204,512, and 3,379,086. There are likely foreign patents, I just dont know of them. Your reference librarian can prob. obtain US copies for you, if not I can help. I suggest looking in Grove's Dict. of Music ---, and have heard that the Shrine to Music in Vermillion, SD has much Mazzeo info. Likely the ICA "Clarinet" quarterlies may have articles of interest. Again you may know more of these sources than I . Good luck, Don
