 anyone heard of H.L. Mason made in England?

I am not a clarinet player but have an old wooden clarinet, the bell displays H.L. Mason.

The case displays "VAL" and looks very old.
The serial on the clarinet is 61413, the wood looks very nice.

Can anyone tell me anything about this clarinet?
I cannot find a thing about it when googleing.

Never heard of that name over here, suspect it is a stencil made with a store name although the few examples I have seen of such in the UK were usually of continental make.
