I have the exact same problem here. I am switching from V12 3 1/2+ to rigotti golds. I ordered some rigotti gold 3 1/2 mediums. It that close? I'm worried that it's going to be too soft. Thanks for any information!

I personally think Rigotti reed's strength is same to Vandoren tradition. So you may say it is 1/4 stronger than V12.

I as well ordered 3.5 medium michael.
I guess we'll have to wait and see, but i think now that 3.5 medium is probably the closest.

Hi everyone,
I've been playing Rigottis for the last year or so. For most mouthpieces, 3 medium is best. Harder rigottis are great too, but require some more intense balancing and sanding to be vibrant enough.
I've been playing 3 light and 3 medium out of the box and have also had success with 3.5 medium that were sanded on a reed-dual.
3.5 medium out of the box will definitely be harder than a v12 3.5 or 3.5+. More comparable to a 4 V12.
BTW: ClariKid- did you get a sample or two from a private teacher in Dallas a week or so ago? I might have been the one that gave out the samples to him...
