A few years ago I lost my brother's Pyne mouthpiece that he picked out for his Buffet clarinet. I use his clarinet when I do doubling (tripling, quadrupling,) in pit orchestras since he no longer uses it. Anyhow, I recently picked up a used Pyne mouthpiece serial number Bn for $35. I was thrilled. It's in great shape and according to what I saw online is worth a lot more. Though I'm not exactly sure what Bn means. Anyone know? I will also do more research online. Sounds really good anyway. For an amatuer like me, it seems like a great mouthpiece.

Mouthpieces generally don't have serial numbers so the markings likely refer to a model or facing. Currently he doesn't list any model denoted "Bn" but it's possible he did in the past.
Why not send him an e-mail and ask?

Pyne used to make a Bn model but has apparently discontinued it. If you Google "Pyne Bn mouthpiece" without the quotes, you'll find some limited information. While you are at it, do some research on asymmetrical mouthpieces. Pyne has tended to favor that approach. Some clarinetists love them. Many do not.
