I have an old Noblet 45 with a 4 digit sn. The sn chart @ clarinetperfection has only 5 digits. I mean it is a very old clarinet. It has yellow posts and springs. Are these made of hard bronze? Or electroplated back then? The springs are dull and could be bronze. But the posts are shiny.

Interesting. I've never seen a Noblet with brass, bronze, or gold posts. The springs are almost certainly not bronze or brass as those are not good materials to make springs from since they are work-hardening.
If I were to guess I would say that both your posts and springs are gold plated. Back before the company was bought out by Selmer it was common to see gold plated springs on Buescher saxophones.

Pillars are normally made from nickel silver and either left unplated (which would turn yellow) or then nickel or silver plated to match the keywork, although Leblanc did tend to use nickel plated pillars even though the keywork was silver plated on their pro clarinets.
The springs Leblanc used on a lot of their clarinets were gold plated blue steel - the gold plate would flake off as the springs rusted. Buffet used gold plated springs on their saxes as did SML.

Thanks. I guess I have an old but pampered (with gold) clarinet. No wonder the posts were so shiny. Since you said you have not seen a Noblet with gold plated posts and springs, I will post a photo later. You can judge for me if the post are indeed gold plated. Thanks again.
