Thanks for the help. By your info, I have been able to narrow it down to a piccolo. Any idea of a realistic price a person should put on it should he want to move it semi-quickly?

Just put it on ebay. It's not a highly sought after brand, you'll be lucky to find a buyer. Maybe try to sell it to a museum.

It's going to be a hard sell. The one positive you have is that the instruments that H. Bettoney sold to the military were usually professional models. The bad news is that the demand for them is almost non-existant. A quick check on the completed listings on e-bay revealed that although several Bettoney piccolo's have been listed recently only 1 has sold and that was for only $45. Unless yours is in extremely good condition I would probably put the value at around $50.
