Greetings to you all.
With joy I just wanted to share that I went to a small practice session, and although it was a given that I am a beginner, I was invited to play (a solo or two) with others this weekend at another larger get together. Christmas songs and Christian, of course. Just wanted to share that I did not fall apart with nerves and all that, which was a great delight to my brain. Grin. I'm the only clarinetist there, others will be guitar and voice. Still struggling with the F to the B and C fingerings in the C sheet music I have, but it is getting better.

Way to go, Elk! Keep practicing.
If you have the music in "C", you could practice it privately (maybe even memorize) as written and then transpose up a whole step and play by ear. It should be a lot easier once you know how it is supposed to sound. Then you can play the transposed version when you get together with the group.
If that's not working out too well, another thing you might consider is buying your own music notebook with blank staff paper inside. Then you could transpose the music you have in "C" up to "D" (or other whole step higher depending on what key the source music might be in) into your notebook. Once you're sure you've written the transposition correctly then you can play from the music you have written out.
