Hey folks
I need a new key board so if my typing sucks as usual forgive me...
Back in the days, mainly the 70's, Morre produced some really great reeds. The thick blanks were pretty cool. They had 2 models German and French. I actually liked both. if I remember they came in 2, 2 1/4, 21/2, and maybe 3.
Well this got me thinking if these old bad boxes, perhaps a last run of Morre before closing shop,were these all bad cane before closing, something like that. If anyone has experience with any recently old boxes can you give your imput? Working at Rico for 15 years I consider myself a pretty decent reed maker and was wondering if the cane was crappy or if you need to adjust them befor playing.
I've been extremely happy with the Van.-12's somewhere around a 4 strength. They really fit my type of setup.
The morre rreeds hardly ever played right and you had to work on them alot to get them to play. Some never did play, but thats the norm for all reeds.
Anyway, before I go on and on if anyone has tried them, st the past year or so kindly let me know if any of them were good what type and strength did you get?

Bob, about two years ago I was cleaning up my studio and found about ten boxes of old Morree's I saved. They were the last boxes I tried to use. I'm not sure what numbers they were but they were the same and a half number harder then I used to use at the time because they were all coming in soft. I went through most of them before discarding them and they were all so soft and looking pretty poorly. It bought back memories about how they suddenly were coming in too soft and I finally gave up playing them and began making my own. These were probably at least 30 years old if not more. Hi Eddie, I think I'll save my money! They want something close to $30 a box, plus the postage. No piece f cane is that good. By the time you are done with the shipping and packing fees it's around $2 a reed thats too soft!
I heard the machines were all discarded. Have you heard anything about that?
How was the storm? Any damage to your place? Maybe this weekend you can have a hurricane party! I'll stop by!

No damage, I just lost a few branches. I had heard that the Morrie factory burned down years ago but maybe that was the Oliverie sp? factory. ESP
