Do you mean Backun Protege?
I didn't think Buffet was making plastic clarinets anymore. They seem to be shifting attention to "higher end" products.

They're also available with a LH Ab/Eb lever. That was also an option on the B12, but I've never seen them as hardly any were ordered with it (in the UK).
So it's good to know entry level plastic clarinets offered by both Buffet and Yamaha are available with the LH Ab/Eb lever and not just the Amati 200 series.
While it may not be much interest to absolute novices to have a LH Ab/Eb lever, it will be of interest to players wanting an outdoor or parade clarinet with matching keywork to their pro level clarinet without the expense of having to have an aftermarket LH Ab/Eb lever made and fitted.

I tried it in February and was shocked at the good quality. Smooth, resonant sound. I feel like it plays similar to my Golden Era Bb, it's that silky smooth.
Also, I don't know why, but the keywork felt really easy to hit--I have very small hands and I felt like I didn't have to reach at all. I'm not in the market right now, but if I need an outdoor horn this will be my first choice! It's technically a student-type model, but it plays much better than an E11 type.

What is the MSRP and actual selling price. By the way Prodige means prodigy in French.

They should be around the same price as a B12 considering they're the replacement instrument and in the same category - if they are considerably more, then they're not doing themselves any favours.
In the UK they're £399 - the same as a Jupiter 700S. The Yamaha 255S is £462.

That selmer video was pretty cool, but buffet... That was cringe-worthy

I just saw a Buffet Prodige and it played fine, like a good student model clarinet, but build quality was a little disappointing even for that price. I'm wondering how the Schreiber student model compares with it since it's cheaper (haven't seen one recently).
Yamaha student model is made significantly better and only slightly more expensive, but that's not everything. For example a local teacher recently chose a Buffet E12F over Yamaha 650 (tried a few of each) since it played better for them.
I'm wondering if there's a kid who actually bought one because of that Buffet video... there was one good moment, that third note "mistake" (actually multiphonic) sounded really nice

Most student clarinet was OEM in China.Buffet ,yamaha, hanson, and so on.Yamaha student line made in Hangzhou, it's my hometown and it is G20 meeting city next month.
I don't like yamaha's skin pads, and the planting work is not as good as before.
