Hello,
I am interested in purchasing an older clarinet. The clarinet I'm looking at says Buffet Crampon Paris B-3 120066. I'm told that it is a professional level instrument. I managed to trace the number and came up with this description and because the age it feels right.
Brand : Buffet Crampon
Instrument : No 1 Sib Amerique
Serial number : 120066
Year of manufacturing : 24/03/1971
I'm a saxophonist and feel very much in the dark with a clarinet. If anyone could shed some light on the reputation, playability and sound quality of this instrument, that would be much appreciated. So far, I haven't been able to learn much about the B-3 designation.
Cheers,
Dean

VBased on the serial number, it is a standard R13. HTe Amerique designation meants it is pitched A=440. I had one of a similar vintage, which my daughter currently plays. These were good times for Buffet.
