I've got a particularly wicked upper respiratory infection right now and have missed two days' work because of it. My head is killing me, my ears are stopped up, and the congestion is working its way to my chest. I'm taking OTC meds to deal with the symptoms. I have a rehearsal this afternoon and a band concert Thursday.
Are there any OTCs, home remedies, tricks, etc. that you've found to be helpful in situations like this? Missing the concert isn't an option.

An ear-nose-throat ("ENT") physician can get you up and playing quickly. Try to find one who works with musicians. Singers go to them all the time.
Laryngologists do the same kind of emergency work, and they're usually a singer's first choice. Since they deal with musicians a lot, you may want to try one if you have trouble finding an ENT musician specialist.
Call up the clarinet or singing faculty member at the local university for a recommendation.
Many musicians use a neti pot http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_8?url=search-alias%3Dhpc&field-keywords=neti+pot&sprefix=neti+pot, which will clean out your sinuses. Learning to use it is a bit intimidating. You lean over a sink, squirt the liquid up your nose and let it come out your mouth.

Thanks, Ken. I've heard the squirt-type of Neti pot is more user-friendly than the kind that pours.

I use a warm saline irrigation to clear sinuses. I don't use the neti pot, I just do it cold turkey by dipping my nose in the liquid and sniffing. The first time is a shock to the system, but after that its OK. I learned it from a Korean friend and it works very well. I also find that a 2 hour swim workout in a chlorinated pool does the trick.

A few pieces of well wasabi'd sushi will also clear everything out. I am also a believer in Mucinex and allergy decongestant (I use Advil Allergy) to relieve congestion.

If you mean THIS wasabi it will clear everything out even if you don't want to.
