I recently purchased a music book with an accompanning CD. When removing the CD from its plastic pouch, I allowed some of the adhesive from the pouch to transfer to the CD. Is there a solvent I use to remove the adhesive.

There's a fabulous product called Un-Du, available at office supply stores. It removes anything. BUT ... try it on a junk CD (maybe one of those freebies AOL keeps sending) to be sure it doesn't fog the surface.
On CDs be sure to wipe radially (center toward edge or edge toward center). CD players can correct for scratches that whiz by. What gives them trouble is scratches that curve around, as would happen if you scrub round and round.
It might be worth getting a dedicated CD cleaner. The manual ones are not expensive.
Best regards.
