I thought I read somewhere that Frank Ticheli's Blue Shades has been arranged for clarinet and piano. I did some searching but don't see it, but I see folks on utube playing it that way. Is it available in clarinet and piano form, and if so, where can I find it? Thanks.

Reading what it says on the youtube vid, that performer transcribed the part himself, and then goes on in conversation about how he got permission from Ticheli to write the part, but doesn't seem like a published version is going to happen. I really wish it would, it is very well written, and it totally sounds like it could have been a clarinet solo from the get go.

So I guess the question is, if I buy the score and do it just for myself for recital purposes, do I need his permission or is that fair use? I never know for sure.

You should definately get Ticheli's permission (or whoever holds the copyright)
