I am not talking about taking one to dinner, with the different names, stencil marks, etc, that I have seen on various Penzel Mueller clarinets, was wonderinf if there was some way of knowing approximately when the instrument was manufactured.
I have seen "Penzel Mueller New York", "G. Penzel", "Penzel Mueller Long Island City", Sometimes stenciled in an oval, sometimes without. Anyone know of a source for identifying dates of manufacture by the symbols and names used? Thanks for any help.

I think that instruments labeled "G. Penzel" were made prior to the merger that created P-M so they would likely date earlier than 1920. I believe the logo stated "G. Penzel & Mueller" in the 1920's and that sometime in the 1930's the logo was simplified to "Penzel Mueller".
