I am in the market for a new mouthpiece.
Any suggestions or where to look on line? Mail Order? A strategy for purchasing one? Any names to look out for?
Thanks for the advice.
David.

Try the Woodwind and Brasswind, both on-line, and through their catalog (once you get on their mailing list). I've personally found a lot of mp information through this source. Well, at least I've found a lot of brands, styles, prices, etc.
Commonly known brands include Hite, Vandoren, Selmer, and a few other mass producers in this class. There are some good models, plenty of okay models, and a few dogs in this lot. Don't be surprised if you have to get your mass produced mp adjusted by a woodwind tech to get the mp to work correctly. Then, there are the hand finished products that start with a good "blank" mouthpiece and then, under the caring hands of a renowned pro, it gets fixed it up from there. You will find that many of these models may be a bit more expensive than the mass produced mps, but the quality will tend to be worth the price.
Have fun "surfing the net" for the various manufacturers. Start with this BBS and go from there. Happy hunting.

If it's not too pricey for you, you may want to try a Gigliotti. According to the Woodwind and Brasswind catalog, they carry them. I got my first one used from my teacher about 16 years ago and I still love it. In fact, just bought my 3rd one last week.

You should call Charles Bay and discuss your needs with him. He will send out a couple or few to try. You can find his number on this forum under "resources", "retail". He is most helpful and although, somewhat backed up right now, will most likely, get to you in due time. His mouthpieces are not cheap, but they are quite good.
