I bought this CG Conn 24N clarinet thru an online auction--the seller said it was in very good condition. Well, that didn't matter much to me as I was after the Penzel Mueller mouthpiece and the cool old case the instrument came with. Turns out the mouthpiece has several small chips along the tip opening and rails, and is worn on the back where a protective pad should have been used. It's a Penzel Mueller Artist model in a white material, with the number 3 stamped at the base of the facing. The cool Revere case is seriously worn and doesn't latch! And the clarinet 'in very good condition' is missing a bunch of pads, the rest are no good, the corks are shot, and someone dug out a post in the lower joint (maybe with a penknife??) so it just floats there held in place by the surrounding keys! Pretty funny.
Does any part of this sound worth saving, to anyone?
And regardless of the answer to that question, can anybody tell me anything about that model clarinet and the mouthpiece, so I at least know what I have in hand? I've found some mention of both, but no definitive information.
