Years ago I picked up a clarinet at an estate sale that says I. LOT Paris and has a scripted L below the Paris. A previous post talks about Isadore Lot. Could this have been made by him? It also has B-flat(the symbol) LP on the bell. Is it likely to be of any value, or just an interesting antique?

I could try to do that, but it was hard to read it myself, but there is a script-like L underneath the Paris that looks similar to the Leblanc L. I can see what I can do about the lettering, but should be able to get pictures of the clarinet itself. It may take a day or two. Thanks for the reply.

Isidor Lot used a mark consisting of a lyre with a dotted oval cartouche below it containing the name Isidor Lot. Below the cartouche was an ornate "IL". His firm was located at La Couture, about 40 miles west of Paris. His business passed to Thibouville-Coudevillain in 1886. This firm merged into Thibouville-Cabart a few years and I can't find out what happened to the I.Lot brand after that. Sometime it was acquired by Couesnon and was in use by them around the 1930s. No other info available from my sources. So it depends on how old your horn is. The mark you describe doesn't seem to be the original Isidor Lot mark. My best guess is that it's a Couesnon, they made a lot of clarinets in the first decades of C20.
