FYI

Newly published in time for Shaw's 100th B-day:

Three Chords for Beauty's Sake--the life of Artie Shaw
by Tom Nolan 2010 W.W. Norton, publishers
in hardback

I just got my copy...430 pages incl. author's notes and index. There is also a section of b&w photos.

Ill check out the bio when I am done with the autobio-something tells me the one I am reading now isnt going to have a happy ending.

There have been other bios of him, but they are out of print. I never got a copy of the Cinderella autiobiography.

The author of this new one did a recenct critique of another book for the NYTimes Book Review section. When I checked out the blurb on Nolan's creds, it mentioned that he had a forthcoming Shaw bio. I then ordered it pre-publication (and I also tipped off GBK).

Mrs. Segal has first dibs on reading it.....she finds A.S. fascinating (must be something about the initials [wink])
