Can anyone tell me exactly which Leblanc model this clarinet is? My hunch is the Symphonie III.

I believe it's the standard Leblanc professional-level logo. What looks like the bottom of a roman numeral 111 is actually the bottom of a 'lyre' ? or the thing with the 3 little balls that appears above the Leblanc name.

The addition of 'Symphony', 'Classic', LL,etc. was added below the logo in your picture, in later years, as Leblanc sought to broaden their professional line. My guess is that yours was made in the 50's or 60's. You might be able to check the serial # in the clarinetperfection.com site.

Are there any other markings on the upper joint? AFAIK, Leblanc always included the model name in addition to the Leblanc logo -- at least during and after the 1950's. The logo is from the right time period for a Symphonie 3 (not III) but Symphonie 3 should be written rather large above the logo if that is the model.

Best regards,
jnk

Take a photo of the upper joint logo - or the area of the upper joint between the top tenon and the throat A key as that should have the model info on it.

A sserial mumber would help us to date it, and about 1955-60, Leb began putting model names on, usually on the UJ. like my Dynamic 2. My Grandson's L is a Classic, no name on it tho, Look on Clarinet Perfection for excellent info. Don

Several more pictures of the upper stack would help in proper identification; it is difficult to tell from looking at the logo alone.

Study, Practice, Play and Enjoy.

I think Leblanc added the Symphonie name only with the introduction of the Symphonie 2. This could well be the original Symphonie model, though Lelia, who plays one, will know better.

To me, the structure of the "jump" trill key is the best info gained from the 2nd pic. It is the same as my 1955 Dyn 2, and was modified perhaps as early as 1960[+]. Please look for a serial number, on the back of both joints, to identify age so, with Chris P's help, he/we can determine Leb's names of that period. From what I've seen , I would conclude its a Classic or an even earily no-named model. Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

Logo is identical to that on my 1960 pair (ser no 14xxx)
About this time there was no other identifier with the logo although I am certain that mine is essentially the same model that later became designated as the LL in order to differentiate it from some new models introduced in mid 60's eg L7, L200 etc.

clarimad,

Judging by the logo and the keywork this clarinet was made during 1955-1962. This is a "Leblanc" Pro (no name) model.
