Anyone have some good websites to share to learn about refacing mouthpieces for an absolute beginner? I have a mouthpiece the dog got hold of, which wasn't damaged too badly before I rescued it, but a few chew marks on the rails and such. The mouthpiece itself was slightly stuffy compared to what I replaced it with, and I like to fiddle with stuff so I figured it might be an opportunity to learn a bit more about my instrument.

I can give you Step 1: Acquire a whole bunch of junk mouthpieces and be prepared to ruin most of them while you learn the requisite techniques.

Where is the best place to acquire "sacrificial mouthpieces"? I've acquired some h that auction site, but was wondering if there was another source of reasonably priced mouthpieces with room to work on them...

If you have a shop in your town that does substantial rentals to school band programs they might sell you a bag of them. I did this a few years ago for another reason.

Also, sometimes on that infamous auction site, you can find a whole grab-bag of mouthpieces up for sale at once. 30, 40, 50 mouthpieces all just up for sale. Good to find stuff from.
