I'm not necessarily looking to buy, I really love looking at the horns and getting a feel for what prices things go for.
Sites like timmoranwoodwinds which has clarinets from 1950-70s and silver-clarinet for classic metal horns.
Thanks!
Joe

If you know what you are looking for, and are careful about who you are dealing with, you can strike gold on e-bay.
Last year I bought a pair of Buffet BC20s in Bb and A from e-bay. The Bb is a full Boehm, and the A is a partial full Boehm (no low Eb or LH Eb).
Both never cracked and in excellent playing condition. And for under $1k - for the set in a double case.
Earlier last year I bought a 1960s Leblanc LL Special (partial full Boehm - articulated G# and 7 rings), in silver plate and never cracked for $200
They are out there. But the scams and bad deals are out there too, so be careful.

Ebay def is an awesome resource. I don't really know enough about the vintage stuff to try my hand at it, right now i'm in the listening/reading stage of knowing about these things.

Ebay it's worth, if you calculate a overhaul as the next step ;-) BC below $200 or other "gifts" are possible - but most of this cheap instruments are in terrible condition.
You have to try some instruments, and then one of it "becomes a golden horn" ;-)
If you buy in situ at the clarinet restorer's, you'll get a guarantee and reliable instrument. But the price will exceed to $800 and more for the same class.
It's your choice ;-)

besides those mentioned above, you can always check your local craigslist. The good thing about craigslist is that you can go there and try the instrument yourself. From time to time you'd be able to see some R13s, especially if you live in a big city.
sometimes someone has no clue what an instrument is worth, and that's when you can get it very cheap
