are bonade ligatures commonly used by professionals?

They're pretty common standards. My private teacher a couple of years back suggested I switch to one and I love it. I use it with my Vandoren B-2 mouthpiece and I like the coupling on my R-13. You get excellent tonality control. That's about it.

Robert Marcellus used an inverted Bonade with the center portion (between the two bands) cut out. Harold Wright used an unaltered inverted Bonade. Pretty good company.

Yes. My private teacher before I went to college used one, and the private teacher I have now uses one. I use one and I like the tone quality I get with it.

I use an inverted Bonade ligature on my Morgan 06 mouthpiece for Eb clarinet.
