I have an old bass clarinet in need of pads and adjustment. The instrument is propably not worth having done professionally (and I have another playing one) so I thought I take a crack at doing the repairs myself. I don't think I could make it any worse and I am somewhat mechanically inclined. Can anyone recommend a good book or other source of information on clarinet (particularly bass) repair? Also, where would i get supplies? I've looked around on the web and have found no one expressly selling cork, pads, etc. Any help would be apreciated.

Drop Dave Spiegelthal a line (he's a regular poster). He can help steer you in the right direction, and may reassure you over the horn's value.
There are some high quality "sleepers" out there.
Muncy winds also has a handle on what is needed at a minimum for repairs.
