There's a very good YouTube performance of the Spohr 6 German Songs by the ensemble Anaphora -- Guinevere Tiffin, soprano, Cory Tiffin, clarinet and Matthew Ganong, piano. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=spohr+six+teniralcist&search_type=&aq=f
Spohr was not Beethoven or Schubert. The harmony and emotional temperature are always the same. Still, the 6 German Songs are excellent music, performed far too seldom.
By absolute standards, the are a few tiny problems. The clarinetist is technically superb, but he plays a hair sharp, particularly in the throat register, I'd like to hear more variety in tone color from both him and the soprano, and there's room for even more tone painting to match the words. Finally, the clarinetist is a little overmiced. But it's the equal of any of the LP and CD versions I've heard.
For each song, be sure to click on "more info" at the right, which reveals an English translation of the texts.

Boring clarinet sound. Loud and straight without any depth or color. Some might say a bit on the bright side but I see no connection between dark tone and depth and color. I've heard much brighter sound than this with much more depth and color. Take Michael Collins as an example.

Hey Ken:
Very good piece for Clarinet & Voice.
Try listening to my old live recording on my web-site of the Spohr Songs. Go to SOUNDS, then SOUNDS 3, then listen to track 3:
"John Moses playing Louis Spohr's "6 German Songs, Op. 103" with Maureen Forrester, Contralto & Jeaneane Dowis, Piano. Recorded live at the Aspen Music Festival - August 13, 1977."
It's pretty good for a live, one mic performance in an outdoor tent!
