hi, I recently got an old clarinet which belonged to my grandfather. The only writing on it is "Cabart a Paris", and then a sharp, flat and natural signs. I have looked for ages on the internet, but all I can find out is stuff about oboes and basoons. Have I got a rare instrument here? It is wood, and in quite good condition. Please help me..
Thanks
Heloise

Cabart is for Lorée as Bundy for Selmer. Lorée still makes oboes under "Cabart" brand. I've written to Loree to ask them about their Lorée clarinets, but no answer!
There are some threads discussing "Lorée" clarinets, maybe that helps you.
Good luck

Your clarinet probably dates from the '20's by your description. Rare? not really. There are a few of them still floating around on eBay from time to time. It probably has more value to you knowing that it was your Grandfather's.
