 Hi all!

Recently I began working on Braham's first sonata for clarinet and piano (the 2nd movement) with a collegue of mine from work. She is a fine violinist, but also plays the piano, somewhat and it's going ok.

But if we could find a piece of music specifically for the clarinet and violin... well that could be really interesting and lots of fun! I would really appreciate any suggestions out there in music land! Help!

Please note: while she is an advanced violinist, I am just an intermediate clarinetist.

 Many thanks,

 Steve

When you play with a violin, pay very close attention to your volume balance. It is extremely easy to "bury" the violin.

I have a friend who is a violinist and we actually played a gig as a duet. It was short notice, so we used "Seventy-eight duets for flute and clarinet." It worked out very well--you just have to be careful that some of the flute parts are high or in very flat keys. This may be ideal if your friend is a little stronger player than you. Also, if you want to do some real work, there is a Hindemith duet for clarinet and violin and a Bartok trio for clarinet, violin and piano. You may want to search jwpepper.com for others.--Karen

Bartok contrasts is a pretty cool piece.... though chalenging.... you will need a pianist added to the violinist...

I can't think of any stuff written for clarinet and violin....

I played contrasts with my sister (violin) and my mum (piano).. and it was amazing but hard work.
