I have a Yamaha model 72 B flat Clarinet. It is in very good condition (almost looks new) . Since I am not a clarinet player, I have no idea what this clarinet is worth. I realize that it is hard to place a value on an instrument that is unseen, but if possible I would like someone to give me a ball park figure. I believe this is a professional instrument. Can anybody help?

It is. I own a YCL-72csA. (which means its a YCL-72 model w/silver plate in the key of A. don't know whether yours is silver plate or not).
Depending upon (specific) condition it could be worth anywhere in a range of say $300 to $800, probably somewhere in the middle.

Yamaha's new catalogue does not list the model 72. The equivalent is probably the Yamaha CS. It LISTS for $2,977.00, but can be bought for substantial amount less than that. I was quoted $1895.00 for the SEV by a known mail order discount establishment and it lists for $3,320.00

John, I also own a (basically new) YCL-CS. I think the YCL-72 is a better instrument. YES, the SEV would be a better comparison. Unfortunately, my CS hasn't got a heap of value since they were liquidated quickly .. the remaining North American stock going to universities @ greatly discounted prices and the balance to the WW&BW. mw
