 Old Clarinet Information
Author: Allan Jacks

I have an old clarinet that I am trying to find some information on. It is a Bundy Selmer serial #5050
The body is single piece rather than what I have seen with two pieces joint to make the body. I have just started playing it after many years absense. I was considering looking at something newer if it will be hard for me to transition later.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks

Is this wood, plastic or metal? Boehm fingering?

Chances are it is from the 1930s. At that time Bundy was the mid line instrument rather than the student model. It would not surprise me if it needs some pads to sound good. Like most vintage instruments, chances are it won't play in tune over the whole range as easily as newer instruments. If you have a good ear, chances are you will adjust and lip notes up or down as needed. This means that if you decide to buy a new horn, there will be an adjustment period while your ear retrains your mouth. Nothing serious.
